Chapter 431 Percival's Threat
Chapter 431 Percival's Threat
His eyes went to the bloodstained windows. Percival's lips trembled as he watched her walk away. Then he took bold steps, water splashing with each large stride and grabbed Lucy's wrist.
"Wait." He wanted to let her go, to watch her, but it's been days now. The pain in his heart grew each time he knew she suffered alone.
With his own eyes, he could see her mental health slipping.
Maybe… It was time to confront her. To face this once and for all.
"Let's talk."
"No." Lucy's reply was sharp.
"Lucy, be reasonable!" His voice went a few notches higher.
"I…m trying. I've been trying!" She pulled her wrist off his grip, staring into his eyes.
"I've tried, Percival. I've tried to be better but I just can't." Her breathing became ragged, her eyes grew red and moist. "Do you know how many times I've spoken to myself to feel better, to be happy but it doesn't work. I'm constantly in a battle with myself! Why was I born like this when you all seem to have it all together."
Her lips quivered. "I can't even control my own mind. My efforts come crashing down. I desperately want to cheer for you but the question 'why aren't you there' keeps haunting me. And now…"
Her eyes shimmered with a pink light.
"Why are you always better?! Why are all of you so much better than me?! I will also try! I try to at least be behind but even that isn't even possible. I can't even reach out to your shadows!! I am the most miserable person and that's because of the friends I have!"
Her face paled, eyes wide with shock, her hands trembling as the pink glow vanished. She slowly reached out to Percival. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry… I didn't mean that."
She shook her head in denial, stopped her hands halfway and ran in the opposite direction.
'You said it!'
'You said it!"
Hera kept singing in her head, causing her to stumble and crash on the muddy ground not too far from Percival.
She picked herself back up and ran, occasionally looking back. He remained in that same spot until she left the area.
Percival remained in that same spot, hands tucked into his soaked white hoodie, his lips pursed.
He blinked and permission was given back to the rain and the suspended water droplets fell all at once, splashing on him.
After standing there for a long time, Percival turned and walked away.

Time trickled by. The buildings here were the worst. Metal scraps were used to fix the parts that had been destroyed by beasts.
This dungeon was famous for its variety of monsters, majorly the dinosaurs, the Black Land Hippos, and the Red God Fox. Which made it one of the most dangerous and biggest dungeons in the US.
It was in this same dungeon, paradise was built and banished. As one of the biggest blue gate dungeons, a system had already been formed here, one that revolved around hunting monsters for their materials. It was a hub for making money and providing materials to big organisations that used them to make advanced objects.
Some mined or quarried the stones found here. Perched on a rooftop, Percival looked at this small town.
The buildings were lined properly, like it was built by the government or this was an attempt to spread out but that plan failed completely. All that was left were wrecks of buildings with ugly patchwork.
It was late yet it rained. Percival leaped down, opened the door of a rundown house and stepped in. His eyes found Lucy who tucked herself in a corner.
"What do you want?" A chilling voice rang, making him turn to another corner. Hera stood there, her pink tattoo glowing in the darkness.
Percival was silent. He ransacked the house, found some clothes. It wasn't much but would help with the cold, so he laid it on her.
"She's a demigod. What you're doing is of no use." Hera scoffed.
"You're mistaken. You are the demigod. She's just a summoner with an unfortunate summon that has made it her life goal to torment her."
"I'm just honouring my creator. And besides, she has always been jealous. I just increased it a hundred times." Hera replied with a shrug.
"It's dangerous to be around her. One of my abilities is that as long as I or my summoner is jealous of someone, I can steal their face and will be able to do all they can do. I promise, the day she snaps, you'll be the first on my list." Hera's eyes glinted.
"You're an obsidian. You act like you're supposed to but…" Percival's eyes gleamed. It was bright blue and cold. Extremely cold.
"The day you slip. The day we find something that can split you from her, trust me. I will kill you in the worst way possible."
He turned to the door, listening to the raindrops. "I will spend days … just killing you."
Hera smiled but her teeth were clenched behind that smile. That threat, from a man like this, could make anyone's spine tingle, including an Obsidian.
"Percival…you're really going to do that… to me?" She spoke, her voice mimicking Lucy's. Her face was already like Lucy's. The difference between them being her skintone, hairstyle, pointy ears and height.
"Have you ever seen a troubled sea?"
Hera blinked.
"You can't kill me. I'm tied with her even more than your summons are tied to you and once she feeds. We will become more bonded than ever."
Percival ignored Hera and sat beside Lucy, looking at her peaceful face. "Strangely, the only thing we both have in common is that we'll both protect her."
Hera blinked. She was already thinking of words to counter but none came out of her mouth.
"If she dies, you die. You said that yourself." Percival leaned his head on the wall, staring at Hera with one bright eye.
"Cain sent you, didn't he?"
"Without Cain, she would've spent her whole life being overlooked." Hera countered.
"I see then. Goodnight." Leviathan coiled around the building while King sat on its head which was above the roof.
Hera could see the leviathan and King staring at her with one eye.
