Chapter 154: Isadora’s Reaction
Chapter 154: Isadora’s Reaction
On the other side of the town, Isadora sat on a rooftop of a pentagonal building, her legs hanging off the roof as she kicked them out in the air, watching as the blood-dome consumed everything in sight.
She already had a faint idea about Ruby and her powers, but seeing it for the first time still shook her a little.
"So powerful... It looks like only Father’s Dark Phoenix will ever stand a chance against her. Well, it’s a good thing she is part of the family now." Isadora muttered under her breath as the blood covering the sky disappeared as if it was never there, only leaving behind a faint trace of redness in the air, dyeing the moon red.
"G-Good Evening ma’am!! We have the exact report ready!!" A somewhat nervous and shaken voice sounded out from behind her, causing her to look.
"Oh, it’s you, Sergeant. Well, what does the satellite say??" Isadora quickly turned around and started admiring the moon once again, her voice sounding playful, yet commanding at the same time.
"Well, the culprits behind this massacre have already gone home. The rampage has destroyed the whole slum area and the entire night market. There is not a single survivor at all. Our charts show that the number of deceased were m-more—" The sergeant started stuttering on the spot, looking afraid as if he just by discussing it, that menacing red serpent will appear on their heads and kill them at once..
"Well, why are you stuttering now? I am sure you have seen a death count much higher than this on the border. Just tell me the average numbers. "
Hearing Isadora’s voice, the man finally looked like he had taken a significant risk before he started talking about numbers.
"T-The number of people they killed today is approximately 27,541 people. And that is just a rough estimate. We will be able to find the real number soon after we conduct even more thorough research."
Just that sentence seemed to have taken all the energy out of his body as he gave a deep sigh of relief.
"Well, that was less than I was expecting to be honest. From the look on your face, I thought they killed more than a million people or something. It’s just 27,000. What about the civilians? Did you get them out on time as I asked you to do so?" She questioned lazily.
The man stood up straight in a second, as if he had finally regained his confidence, as he continued to report.
"Yes, every single civilian within a 10 km radius of the Night Market had already been extracted from the spot 2 hours prior as per your direction. There are zero civilian casualties. Every single one who died tonight were nothing but the scum of society." The sergeant clearly had a look of admiration in his eyes as he looked at her, who somehow protected everything even before it happened.
"Well, that’s really good. Now it’s your task to focus on repairing that place. I want you to work through the night and make sure all traces of the battle are gone by tomorrow. No one should be able to find out that a battle occurred there in the first place." Isadora directed calmly.
"Yes, ma’am, but I have a question. In fact, the whole department does. Just who is he? Such people, capable of holding so much destructive power, we shouldn’t be letting them roam free like that, right? And after he killed so many people, he can already be considered a heinous criminal."
"Just focus on doing your job. You don’t need to know who he is or where he is from. Just remember, he is on our side. Plus, he did the job for you and helped you get rid of everyone you wanted to catch. If anything, our department should be thanking him instead of capturing him." Isadora’s Cold voice is cut in between, interrupting him.
Hearing the coldness in her voice, the man snapped back from his trance, almost shut himself after remembering who he was talking to: the Crimson Witch of Flames herself.
"Yes ma’am."
"Good, you are dismissed." She waved her hand to dismiss him, and he silently withdrew from the scene.
"Amber, your boy has grown up so big and strong. I think you would have been proud of him by now. Just where did you go..." Isadora’s melancholic voice rang out in the air as she silently gazed at the red moon in the night.

Just like that, all the multiple strong people that were residing in the Verdant Hollow all reacted differently to the sight of the blood dome in the middle of the night.
Some of them grew really horrified after seeing it, while others grew fearful. Just seeing it invoked some previous memories in their minds, mostly unpleasant ones that they wanted to forget.
They still remember the fear of being dominated by the Crimson Witch and how their family had a golden rule of never ever offending or going against the Ashford family.
Whoever decided to go against them ended up getting expelled from their clan in the best-case scenario, and ended up dead in the worst-case. They did whatever they could to avoid invoking the wrath of that family, or their legacy would vanish overnight.
This fact had already been proven true beforehand when the family was a newcomer in the city, and they tried to bully them, only to realise they had ended up kicking an iron plate.
In a single day, the most prominent and hidden clans in the Vardant Hollow were reduced from 18 to just 8, while the rest rejoiced that they were too slow to make a move on them, sparing the lives of their family.
All of them had gotten the news of that family perishing a few months ago, making them jump up in joy, but from the demonstration tonight, it looked like the family’s power was very much alive, causing them to put a pause in their plans to take that land from them.
That night, the sentence "The Ashford Family Still Lives" rang out countless times throughout the night, disturbing the peaceful lives of multiple parties.
It was destined to be a sleepless night.
